Carson Wentz - Former Commanders QB

One of the easiest decisions the Washington Commanders had to make this offseason was releasing Carson Wentz. His big trade from the Indianapolis Colts blew up in the biggest possible way, which made saving $26.17 million on their salary cap an absolute no-brainer in the circumstances.

The Commanders will now move forward with Sam Howell in the hope he can provide much-needed stability under center. While high-end draft picks like Wentz normally get more chances than most, nothing has arrived as yet.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the signal-caller has been working out in readiness for whatever opportunity comes next. Wentz is also willing to accept a backup role initially before potentially working his way back to a prominent position.

Based on Wentz's career trajectory over the last three years, it's not hard to see why teams have looked the other way. The on-field inconsistencies were evident and the North Dakota State product's confidence also took a major hit along the way.

Maybe Wentz will get another offer from elsewhere during camp or if injury strikes. But make no mistake, this will be his final avenue into the league and he must take full advantage.
