What were some critical observations from the Washington Commanders' final training camp practice in front of their fans?

After a memorable three weeks that saw energy reignited into everyone associated with the Washington Commanders, fan involvement at the team's training camp in Ashburn formally came to an end on Saturday. This was the last session available for the public to attend, which brought an incredible turnout in keeping with renewed interest in the immediate aftermath of Dan Snyder's departure.

The Commanders are clearly growing in stature and genuinely believe anything is possible next season. They have talent across the board, the right blend of youth and experience, and a starting quarterback in Sam Howell that can provide the X-factor needed if the offensive line lives up to their end of the bargain.

All the signs are positive as the Commanders gear up for their second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday. Any further momentum they can generate before Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals can only help their chances of a fast start.

That being said, here are four critical observations from Washington's final public training camp practice of 2023.

Commanders edge rushing depth

Despite Chase Young and Jonathan Allen not being risked for the better part of practice, the Washington Commanders' defensive front still managed to stand out according to those in attendance. This is an absurdly deep group at Jack Del Rio's disposal, which bears more significance on the edge with a multitude of potential contributors making their presence felt.

Those in power within the Commanders have some difficult upcoming decisions in this key area of the field. Good players will be cut, so much will depend on how certain individuals perform during Washington's remaining preseason engagements.

While questions remain about other position groups on the Commanders, Ron Rivera and his staff can relax safely in the knowledge their pass-rushing options will be an area of strength barring any substantial injury complications.
