Commanders LB Frankie Luvu's eagerness

Frankie Luvu's made a tremendous impression since joining the Washington Commanders. The dynamic linebacker opted to link up with Dan Quinn rather than re-sign with the Carolina Panthers, who offered him a new deal but didn't seem to be going anywhere fast after a campaign to forget in 2023.

Luvu's energy, instincts, and emerging leadership became standout features over early workouts. The former undrafted free agent is also keen to maximize the set-up around him. Something that could see the player enter elite-level status with another step forward next time around.

It'll be a tough challenge, there's no getting away from that. Luvu is giving himself a helping hand by soaking up every piece of information and guidance from Quinn's exceptional staff and experienced veterans such as perennial All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner based on comments via Fan Nation.

"I think this is the first for me. With a lot of knowledge in the room and (to) be able to pick their minds and take it on the field, man, I'm blessed. I'm still learning as a sponge. I'm still trying to get as much information as I can to better myself as a player moving forward."

This is something Luvu hasn't benefitted from previously. One could argue that Shaq Thompson was that support system in Carolina. That said, he doesn't hold a candle to what Wagner achieved during his first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame career.

The fact that Luvu is still adopting this mindset is a testament to his work ethic. Emerging from obscurity into a starting role ensures the Washington State product won't ever take anything for granted. This commitment is something that can also rub off on his teammates as the Commanders strive to become a force defensively once again.

If Luvu meets or perhaps exceeds expectations, the Commanders have a bona fide superstar on their hands.
