Commanders need stability at QB

This is the most important thing above all else. No matter what improvements the Washington Commanders have made across other position groups, it will count for absolutely nothing if those in power cannot find the right quarterback to spearhead their exciting new era.

The Commanders have the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. That means once Caleb Williams goes to the Chicago Bears as most anticipate, Washington will have its pick of the rest. And there are three names reportedly under consideration.

Dan Quinn and Adam Peters looked pretty pleased with Jayden Daniels' throwing showcase at LSU's pro day this week. They'll also run the rule over Drake Maye and have taken a long look at J.J. McCarthy, who seems to be a dark horse challenger late whose odds to be the No. 2 pick have plummeted in recent days.

Everyone has an opinion. Nobody knows which direction the Commanders are leaning for sure. Peters is running a tight ship with very few - if any - leaks emerging. Quinn's also been tight-lipped, stating nothing more than assessments are ongoing ahead of such a landmark choice.

After trading Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks and signing veteran backup Marcus Mariota, it's almost guaranteed that the Commanders will be adding a quarterback at No. 2. Which one is the million-dollar question.
