Andrew Wylie - Commanders OT

The Washington Commanders made a plethora of changes across the offensive line. These seem restricted to the interior unless rookie third-round pick Brandon Coleman emerges as a starting left tackle sooner than anticipated.

This is arguably the biggest remaining concern on the Commanders' roster. This offense can ill afford their protection on the edge becoming a weak link. They need to provide quarterback Jayden Daniels with clean pockets as the dynamic signal-caller looks to take the league by storm. Anything less has the potential to undo all the hard work done by those in power throughout the offseason.

Those tasked with starting reps need to step up. Andrew Wylie's performances will be under the microscope in no uncertain terms after an indifferent first season with the franchise.

Wylie followed Eric Bieniemy to the Commanders after helping the Kansas City Chiefs win another Super Bowl. His production didn't meet the required standard overall despite having a supremely consistent presence alongside him in the form of right guard Sam Cosmi.

The former undrafted free agent gave up nine sacks and countless pressures last season. Wylie looked flustered against speed rushers and couldn't generate any significant momentum. The Commanders are giving him another chance to prove himself thanks in no small part to the contract allocated to the player by those who held prominent decision-making positions previously.

Fans are approaching this issue with skepticism. There is a level of trust with the improved regime, but Wylie put out enough bad tape last season to make this a gamble of epic proportions.

The Eastern Michigan product has the chance to alleviate some concerns by starring throughout Washington's training camp and whatever reps come his way during the preseason. Kliff Kingsbury's more balanced attack and enhanced blocking concepts should help, but there's just no telling for sure.

Wylie knows what comes next if he cannot raise consistency levels. Especially considering Adam Peters holds no sentimental attachment to anybody.
