Benjamin St-Juste - Commanders CB

Being on the hot seat can be for one of two reasons. If a player or coach is struggling mightily or the pressure is on to put in a dominant performance in the face of stern opposition.

Benjamin St-Juste falls into the latter.

The cornerback is enjoying a fine 2023 season all things considered. He currently leads the NFL in forced incompletions according to Pro Football Focus, which will be needed in no uncertain terms versus a high-octane Seattle Seahawks passing attack led by quarterback Geno Smith.

Considering St-Juste's size, it would be a shock if he wasn't given the responsibility of limiting D.K. Metcalf's influence. The physically gifted wideout can take over a game if not afforded enough respect, so the former third-round selection needs to take the bull by the horns and perform accordingly.

This would also allow Kendall Fuller to go with Tyler Lockett, leaving Emmanuel Forbes free to pit his skills against fellow rookie Jaxson Smith-Njigba. It's up to defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, obviously, but this seems like the most sensible approach looking at the strengths of each cornerback at his disposal.

It all starts with St-Juste doing whatever he can to make life extremely uncomfortable for Metcalf. Something that would further cement his status as a core component of the Commanders' long-term plans.
