Which Washington Commanders players could lose their current depth chart status ahead of a pivotal 2023 season for the franchise?

The stakes are pretty high for the Washington Commanders currently. But once the ownership group led by Josh Harris gets their $6.05 billion deal officially approved by the NFL, the pressure is going to rise for almost everyone across the franchise.

That comes with the territory, unfortunately. Harris and his investors have no emotional attachment to current employees. They won't hesitate to ring the changes if there is a genuine belief it can move the organization forward at long last.

Ron Rivera has continued with his typical roster building despite the obvious distractions. Things look more competitive across the board, which could lead to some movement up and down the depth chart depending on how things unfold throughout the preparation period.

With that in mind, here are four Commanders players who could lose their current depth chart status in 2023.

Sam Cosmi - Commanders OL

While there is hope that Sam Cosmi can perform far better on the interior rather than the edge, the Washington Commanders have no room for passengers along their offensive line this offseason. Therefore, the former Texas standout must hit the ground running and leave no doubt he is the man to fill the team's right guard spot in 2023.

This will be a constant evaluation from the coaching staff throughout the offseason. If Cosmi doesn't meet specific targets, then the Commanders might tinker with their lineup and demote the 2021 second-round selection further down the pecking order.

Cosmi came into the Commanders with the potential to fill one of the tackle positions long-term. That's no longer the case, so he cannot afford this transition to go wrong this summer.
