4 Commanders players who could be nice surprises in 2024
By Dean Jones
Which Washington Commanders players could become nice surprises during the team's first campaign under head coach Dan Quinn in 2024?
Hopes are high that the Washington Commanders can be more competitive in 2024. Adam Peters and his staff are hard at work making roster improvements. Dan Quinn also formed an accomplished coaching staff capable of bringing more out of this group of players. A lot more is needed, but they're off to a positive start.
It's going to take some time before the Commanders can be perceived as legitimate challengers. This was a franchise on its knees thanks to Dan Snyder's incompetent ownership and four-straight losing seasons under previous head coach Ron Rivera. While going from worst to first happens somewhat frequently around the league, it's also worth remembering that Washington resides in a competitive division. That alone is enough to temper expectations.
If the Commanders want to make encouraging progress during Quinn's first season, it must be a collective effort from top to bottom. There is no room for passengers, so it's a case of shape up or ship out with organized team activities on the immediate horizon.
With this in mind, here are four Commanders players who could become nice surprises in 2024.
Dyami Brown - Commanders WR
This one is a tough sell looking at how Dyami Brown's performed over his first three seasons. It's been largely underwhelming from the wide receiver despite his impressive physical attributes. But the fact he's still around indicates offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury wants to get a closer look at the former third-round pick out of North Carolina throughout the preparation period.
For all the moves made across the roster, the Commanders have done nothing to address their wide receiver room aside from extending Jamison Crowder. There is a wealth of talent emerging from the 2024 NFL Draft that Washington will take advantage of, but don't be surprised if Brown forces his way into the team's plans with the extra urgency of a contract year.
There are no guarantees, but it seems like Brown is at least going to get a chance to stake a bigger claim with Kingsbury leading the offensive charge.
