Mitchell Tinsley - Commanders WR

There are always a few surprises surrounding roster choices around the league. Certain individuals come from relative obscurity to make their presence felt, which is exactly what the Washington Commanders got from wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley en route to earning his place on the 53.

Tinsley was quickly snapped up by the Commanders after the 2023 NFL Draft came to a conclusion. While it wasn't a great surprise he didn't hear his name called after an underwhelming transfer to Penn State, the wideout left absolutely no doubt about his capabilities whatsoever throughout the summer.

The Commanders instantly recognized they might have a player on their hands in Tinsley. He shone at rookie minicamp, building momentum throughout early workouts and looking the part during camp for good measure.

That was a big step, but there's no substitute for putting out good film in a typical game-day environment. Something Tinsley was able to accomplish consistently over a three-game preseason stretch to cement his 53-man roster spot.

Whether Tinsley can make an impact on the offensive rotation as a rookie remains to be seen. One suspects it'll come down to the health of those above the one-time Western Kentucky phenom on the depth chart, but he could assist as a core special teamer until the time for prominent targets arrives.
