Benjamin St-Juste - Commanders CB

Opposing teams knew exactly how to hurt the Washington Commanders' defense under Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera in 2023. With no consistent pass-rushing presence after Montez Sweat and Chase Young departed, it was merely a case of containing the defensive line interior and exposing their cornerbacks deep. A simple, yet extremely effective method of gaining yards quickly and putting points on the board.

The Commanders conceded up splash plays almost at will. Benjamin St-Juste was one of the biggest culprits during an indifferent campaign overall from the cornerback.

St-Juste had some nice moments, but it was nowhere near consistent enough to be considered a guaranteed starter under Dan Quinn and new defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. Fortunately for the player, both coaches have a supreme track record when it comes to developing those occupying positions within the secondary.

Much will depend on whether veteran Kendall Fuller is re-signed and what acquisitions the Commanders make to their cornerback room. St-Juste is going to get a shot at becoming a focal point, but the margin for error is slimmer than ever.

There is also some added motivation for St-Juste. The former third-round pick out of Minnesota is entering a contract year. As we all know, it's amazing what the promise of extra money on a new long-term deal can do for a player's performance levels.
