Ron Rivera - Commanders HC

Josh Harris is reportedly willing to be patient with head coach Ron Rivera. However, it's not hard to see how the walls could be closing in fast if the Washington Commanders' losing run continues for much longer.

This is Rivera's fourth season at the helm. It's been difficult thanks to Dan Snyder's presence before 2023, but results haven't been up to the required standard with no winning campaign despite one divisional title to his name.

Rivera continues to say all the right things and has the locker room's full support, which is something. But overseeing operations - especially on the defensive side - needs a rethink to avoid things tailing off dramatically.

As previously stated, Rivera's defensive background could lead to him becoming more influential in the game planning week-to-week. Either way, something needs to be done with pressure mounting on a coach who was in one of the NFL's hottest seats even before a competitive down was played.

If the Commanders can beat the Atlanta Falcons and keep the momentum building over some winnable fixtures in the coming weeks, some fears will be alleviated. But one only has to look at the reaction to this mini-slump to see what could happen if a couple more bad losses emerge.

Talk is cheap with the season hanging in the balance. Rivera can only do so much, but when the time comes to make important in-game decisions that could potentially play a role in the overall outcome, he must get them right.
