Kamren Curl - Commanders S

Kamren Curl is still waiting to find out whether he'll get a new long-term extension from the Washington Commanders. Considering those making the final decision aren't on the staff currently, nobody could say one way or another what comes next.

Curl's production since joining the Washington Commanders as a seventh-round selection out of Arkansas indicates an extended stay would be mutually beneficial. However, it's hard to ignore the regression in his overall performance levels since safety partner Darrick Forrest went to injured reserve.

If there was one big knock on Curl, it's his awareness in coverage. Support for the cornerbacks can be a little slow on occasion. The Commanders are giving up splash plays almost at will as a result.

The talent is there, we know that. Curl's not been the worst player on Washington's underwhelming defense this season. But he'll know a big effort is needed to close out the campaign in pursuit of improving his chances of getting paid.

It's no secret that the New York Jets' quarterback carousel without Aaron Rodgers is causing them significant complications. If there was ever a time for Curl and the Commanders' defense to show what they're capable of, it's at MetLife Stadium this weekend.
