4 bold predictions for the Commanders vs. Ravens in Preseason Week 2
By Dean Jones
Commanders OLB Andre Jones Jr. gains 2 sacks
There seems to be a surprising bit of momentum building around Andre Jones Jr. Not much was expected of the seventh-round selection heading into the preparation period, but he's given a tremendous account of himself and recently received praise from head coach Ron Rivera thanks to his sterling efforts.
Jones was seen wreaking havoc as a pass-rusher over the last fortnight. He's even been getting deserved reps with the first string as a result of his outstanding growth in a relatively short space of time.
It'll be interesting to see if Jones can carry this positivity into the Washington Commanders' preseason contest against the Baltimore Ravens. Producing quality moments in practice is one thing, but that is no substitute whatsoever for making a big play within a more structured game-day environment.
The former Louisiana star has earned the right to prominent reps on Monday Night Football. If he can come up with a highlight or two, it might secure his roster spot or perhaps even bolster his chances of involvement on the defensive rotation right out of the gate.
Attaining two sacks is a lofty objective to aim for. But these are bold predictions for a reason and if Jones reaches this feat, then everyone associated with the Commanders can start looking at his prospects with a little more confidence.
