Commanders win and move to 3-0

Ron Rivera has not had momentum like this since becoming Washington Commanders head coach. But that hasn't stopped sportsbooks from across the country from writing off his team in Week 3.

The Commanders are 6.5-point underdogs at FedEx Field. When one considers the 3.0-point leeway those on home soil normally receive, Vegas expects this to be a mini-blowout based on the odds.

As we all know, football isn't played on paper. The Commanders are reinvigorated under new ownership, boast a rabid fanbase who are fully behind the team without Dan Snyder, and have enough talent to more than match the Buffalo Bills if everyone plays up to the level expected.

They also have a quarterback in Sam Howell with the fearless mentality needed to go toe-to-toe with Josh Allen. He might not have the accomplishments or experience, but there's one thing the former fifth-round pick has that others don't…

Eric Bieniemy.

It won't be easy and it won't be a great shock to some should the Commanders get brought back down to earth. However, there is also nothing to suggest Rivera's squad cannot keep things close at the very least.

And who knows, maybe Washington's long-suffering support can give the players an extra sense of motivation to win and put the entire NFL on notice.
