Commanders draft gets A+ grades

It's been a long time since fans have come out of the NFL Draft with legitimate hope for the future. There have been a few hits along the way, but it's been largely underwhelming overall. Something general manager Adam Peters will be looking to rectify as a matter of extreme urgency throughout his first selection process at the helm.

The potential is there for the Washington Commanders to have their best draft in years. Peters has the No. 2 overall selection to find his franchise quarterback. They have five other picks in the first three rounds and eight more in total. This is the perfect chance to set the tone for what's to come and get the entire league looking at this football operation differently.

Nobody is expecting miracles overnight. What the fanbase wants to see is a concerted effort to be professional, not become reactionary to how the board is unfolding, and identify prospects that fit their way of thinking. Seems simple, but you'd be amazed how this seemingly small challenge becomes a tall order for some who aren't fully prepared.

Opportunity knocks for Peters and the Commanders. They've worked hard and made sacrifices to put themselves in the strongest position imaginable. Making the most out of every possible resource will go a long way to determining whether or not they come out on the other end smiling.

Of course, those chosen have to put everything together on the field. But if the Commanders can receive widespread approval from analysts en route to A+ grades from their picks, it's another sign that things are trending in the right direction.

The time for talk, rumors, debates, and hearsay is officially over. Now is the time for Peters to showcase why the Commanders made him their high-priority general manager candidate - one the league revered as the best up-and-coming front-office executive anywhere in the NFL.

One thing is guaranteed above else else, nobody has prepared better.
