3 winners (and 1 loser) from Washington Commanders 2024 OTAs

Winner No. 3
Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB
Jayden Daniels is enjoying a lot of adulation right now. The Washington Commanders are expecting big things from the quarterback after taking him at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Expecting miracles right away is unrealistic, but the athletic intangibles suggest that the franchise has something special on its hands.
Daniels made a seamless transition to the pros. Players and coaches knew the talent he brought to the table. What they were taken aback by was the signal-caller's tireless work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to help this once-proud organization reach the promised land.
The Commanders are a long way from Super Bowl contention. But if Daniels hits the ground running and takes the league by storm, it won't be much longer before they're right in the thick of things.
Daniels' accuracy, rapid-fire release, and timing of his distribution were all evident throughout organized team activities. There was one difficult series during 11-on-11. Aside from that, it was incredibly pleasing.
The Heisman Trophy winner won over teammates quickly. That's always half the battle with rookies, especially those who come in as high-end selections with a big role to play immediately. Building on this positive momentum is crucial.
Those in power assembled a strong support system for Daniels. They'll be on hand to provide advice and keep his feet on the ground. The signal-caller is under a lot of pressure to perform next season. That said, there will be times of struggle looking at how rookie quarterbacks typically fare in Year 1.
Navigating OTAs successfully was another important step for Daniels. Next on the agenda is Washington's mandatory minicamp. Then, it'll be a short break away from the facility before training camp and preseason games.
The reports coming out about Daniels are positive. If the same trend continues heading into Week 1, it's all systems go.
