Commanders could trade Montez Sweat or Chase Young

One prominent defensive lineman already left the NFC East via trade this week when the New York Giants sent Leonard Williams to the Seattle Seahawks for second and fifth-round picks. This won't have gone unnoticed by the Washington Commanders, who have a critical decision to make regarding their defensive end duo of Montez Sweat and Chase Young.

Both pass-rushers are looking for big money on their new deals next spring. The Commanders might not have the financial clout to keep both around, so making sure they get something back in return for one seems like a realistic option in the very near future.

If one were to make a wager on which player is on the move, it would be Sweat. The former first-round selection has been the subject of one legitimate offer, which could turn into a second-round pick if he signs a long-term deal according to Ben Standig of The Athletic.

That might be a good offer to accept from a team like the Atlanta Falcons given they aren't setting the world alight this season. Sweat's been a model professional and ultra-consistent since joining the Commanders, but this is a business above all else.

There is also reported interest in Young without anything concrete emerging. The player looks back to something like his old self this season and has finally put a consistent run of games together, so the Commanders might bank on his upside finally reaching the heights anticipated coming out of Ohio State.

Keep your notifications on and buckle up. The next few hours are going to be very interesting indeed.
