Commanders could trade Jacoby Brissett

There are multiple teams across the league desperately looking for help at the quarterback spot. The Minnesota Vikings were the latest organization to suffer a body blow at football's most critical position after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers and is out for the year.

The Washington Commanders clearly have their guy for 2023 at the very least in Sam Howell. He's coming on encouragingly and after another exceptional overall display versus the Philadelphia Eagles, strengthened his claims to be the franchise signal-caller long-term.

While Jacoby Brissett has value as a strong mentor for Howell, it's highly unlikely he will see the field unless injury strikes. Any team examining potential options via trade before the deadline might look favorably on his production last season with the Cleveland Browns, so the Commanders could receive a couple of calls.

Brissett's proven to be a solid if not spectacular performer throughout his career. He won't give many games away through errors, but the veteran needs everything around him to go right in pursuit of making things happen.

That's exactly what a team like the Vikings need right now. This would leave the Commanders short of a dependable backup, which could result in Jake Fromm getting elevated from the practice squad and onto the 53-man roster.

It would need to be a good offer. But it's something to keep an eye on in the coming hours.
