3 exciting traits Frankie Luvu brings to the Commanders

Frankie Luvu brings versatility
Versatility is something that became a frustrating word during the Ron Rivera years, especially where the offensive line is concerned. But with Frankie Luvu, it's something the Washington Commanders can put to good use within Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt Jr.'s expansive scheme.
Luvu is capable of playing anywhere across the defensive second level and impacts the game in all phases. He's got proven production on the outside as an edge rusher and explosive difference-maker against the run. The former Washington State star's improving from a coverage standpoint to further increase his influence, but his true talent centers on the freedom to be instinctive.
When Shaq Thompson went down with a serious injury after 69 defensive snaps in 2023, Luvu was forced into a different role. He operated primarily as an interior force rather than working from the edge. He transitioned seamlessly en route to 125 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 10 tackles for loss.
Just where the Commanders plan on utilizing Luvu remains to be seen. As it stands right now, he could operate as the MIKE linebacker - a move that allows Jamin Davis to spend more time rushing the quarterback. But Quinn and Whitt would be wise not to pigeonhole the player.
Get creative with Luvu and magic happens. This is the key behind his elite-level production.
