3 early roster cuts that could instantly help the Commanders in 2023

Commanders could sign Desmond King (CB)
The Washington Commanders made some improvements to their cornerback room throughout the offseason. But adding another capable performer to enhance depth is something those in power should contemplate if the right opportunity comes along heading into Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Kendall Fuller, Benjamin St-Juste, and Emmanuel Forbes look like a potentially productive starting trio if everyone stays healthy. Second-rounder Quan Martin had an up-and-down preseason but should feature plenty, with the likes of Danny Johnson, Christian Holmes, and Rachad Wildgoose also hoping for roster spots.
If the Commanders decide more is needed from an outside source, then Desmond King's availability should make people sit up and take notice. The former All-Pro remains productive and performed well for the Houston Texans, but DeMeco Ryans is providing those with less experience with an opportunity to prove their worth.
The Commanders won't be alone if they decide to covet King. His specialty covering the slot could be useful and also keep Martin out of the proverbial firing line until he is 100 percent ready to take on starting responsibilities.
King shouldn't have to wait too much longer for a new home. If it was to be the Commanders, they'd have four or potentially five dependable corners if Martin manages to live up to his end of the bargain.
