Which Washington Commanders players can secure roster spots during the team's second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens?

After two outstanding joint practices this week, the Washington Commanders will once again battle with the Baltimore Ravens on ESPN's Monday Night Football. This is another important measuring stick in terms of evaluations and something that will help Ron Rivera's staff immensely when the time comes to cut down their roster to 53.

There seems to be growing confidence within the Commanders that they could be set for something special next season. Holding their own and more against a playoff hopeful during the two sessions vindicated the hard work undertaken throughout the preparation period so far, but there's nothing like performing in a game-day setting to tip the scales in your favor.

With this in mind, here are three Commanders players that can lock up roster spots in Preseason Week 2 at FedEx Field.

Christian Holmes - Commanders CB

Opportunity certainly knocks for Christian Holmes entering Monday's game. The cornerback was one of the team's standout performers against the Cleveland Browns and Danny Johnson's unfortunate injury means a roster spot could be within reach providing he puts together another strong outing.

Holmes might find it hard to gain reps on the defensive rotation after the Washington Commanders made some decent acquisitions to their secondary during the 2023 NFL Draft. However, his physical profile indicates he could be a more than dependable understudy that could also assist on special teams for good measure.

If Holmes shows out against the Ravens, it shows that he can be consistent and build on positive momentum. That is always half the battle when it comes to those lower down the pecking order.
