3 Commanders that could be cut before playing a snap in 2023

Tim DeMorat - Commanders QB
Not making a big splash in the quarterback market was an expected yet surprising move throughout the offseason. Ron Rivera remained adamant that Sam Howell deserved a shot at winning the top gig despite mounting pressure, although the Washington Commanders hedged their bets with the free-agent signing of Jacoby Brissett if things go wrong.
The Commanders did pick up another young option once the 2023 NFL Draft concluded. Tim DeMorat was a high-priority target in undrafted free agency thanks to his record-breaking production at Fordham and a cannon for an arm that can hopefully evolve into something more.
DeMorat has flashed on occasions throughout early offseason workouts, The recent NFL rule change that permits a third quarterback to suit up and be activated in the event injury strikes is something else the signal-caller has working in his favor.
Washington also has Jake Fromm competing for the No. 3 position behind Howell and Brissett. He is a safer bet right now, so it might come down to which quarterback performs best throughout training camp and when it's their time to shine under center during preseason games.
If Fromm outperforms DeMorat - which is entirely possible all things considered - then a situation could emerge where the Commanders cut the UDFA arrival and look at stash him on the practice squad until further notice. Although not the end of the world for his development, it's a situation that represents a distinct lack of trust.
