Which players recently acquired by the Washington Commanders could be cut without playing a snap before the upcoming 2023 campaign?

There have been plenty of comings and goings across the Washington Commanders roster in readiness for the 2023 season. Perhaps activity was restricted somewhat by the ownership flux, but head coach Ron Rivera and his staff are quietly confident they've done enough to make a potential postseason push next time around.

Some signings and draft picks will have more success than others. Some will also rise from relative obscurity to make contributions that nobody saw coming.

The Commanders are under immense pressure to demonstrate growth in 2023. Josh Harris and his group of investors will make sure of that, so there is no room for passengers or sentiment when it comes to making important roster decisions before Week 1 arrives.

With this in mind, here are three Commanders players that could be cut without playing a snap in 2023.

There is no head coach anywhere in the league that has more loyalty than Ron Rivera. Whether it's those already around or former players who've performed for him in the past, the experienced figure likes to surround himself with familiar faces for good or bad.

This was further reflected by the signing of Trenton Scott from the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. The pair worked together previously on the Carolina Panthers and clearly have a level of trust that resulted in the Washington Commanders bringing him into the fold on a two-year, $3 million deal.

Scott might have the position versatility that Rivera loves, but the production hasn't matched in recent years. If the young guns across the protection develop accordingly throughout camp, then a situation could emerge where the former Grambling State standout is moved on without seeing the field in a competitive setting.
