Bold predictions for the Washington Commanders as they go in search of a major upset against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18.

Most Washington Commanders fans will be glad to see the back of this season. Expectations for legitimate progress were high entering Year 4 of Ron Rivera's head coaching tenure with new ownership watching on. Sadly, it's been littered with the same underachievement as things continue on their concerning downward spiral.

Today is Rivera's birthday, which will ironically prevent him from getting fired after their Week 18 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He won't be as fortunate on Black Monday, one suspects. This is the date that many respected insiders have tabbed as the coach's expiry date in Washington.

One last effort is needed during their rivalry game against the Dallas Cowboys, who can clinch the NFC East with a victory over divisional adversaries. The Commanders are short-handed, so it seems like a tall order when one factors everything into the equation.

Looking ahead to this afternoon's clash, here are three bold Commanders predictions for the regular-season finale at FedEx Field.

Commanders defense gains 2 turnovers

The Washington Commanders are under no pressure as the curtain comes down on their 2023 season. That's all on the Dallas Cowboys, who have the chance to dethrone the Philadelphia Eagles and get themselves a home playoff game for good measure.

Things have been a complete disaster defensively for the Commanders. Firing Jack Del Rio did nothing to improve their fortunes. Another reason why Ron Rivera is heading out of the door in the coming days.

Gaining two turnovers would be a step in the right direction - especially given the standard of opposition. Whether it would be enough for a shock victory is another matter.
