In a shocking move, Cleveland Browns All-Pro Myles Garrett announced on Monday that he'd like to be traded to an organization that gives him a chance to win a Super Bowl before the end of his career. A year ago, even throwing the Washington Commanders into that conversation would have been laughable but a lot has changed in a year.
First and foremost, the Commanders are a Super Bowl contender and they proved that by coming one win shy of making it to the big game for the first time since the 1991 season. Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels helped turn the franchise around in both of their first years on the job and now the Commanders will look to build on that in Year 2.
Secondly, the Commanders have the cap space to bring Garrett to D.C. He's still due a ton of money and the Browns aren't going to let whoever takes him "off their hands" get away without paying that contract.
Kay Adams discussed the Garrett situation on her show Up & Adams and said that she thinks the Commanders would be a great landing spot for the former number one pick.
"If [Garrett] does move, where do I want him to go? Commanders? I see you, I think that could be fun," Adams said. "They have a ton of cap space that instantly takes this defense to another level."
Kay Adams says Commanders would be ideal landing spot for Myles Garrett
Adams isn't the first to float the Commanders as a potential destination for Garrett but she makes great points. The organization has turned itself around over the last year and a Super Bowl is no longer something that feels like a pipedream. They have the money to bring Garrett in and he'd get the chance to play for a Super Bowl contender, something he has not had the privilege of doing during his time with the Browns.
This would be a good solution for the Browns as well, seeing how the Commanders are in a different conference and they wouldn't have to face their former All-Pro player very often. It does make a ton of sense for both sides. It'd also be fun to see what Quinn, a defensive-minded head coach, could do with Garrett at his disposal.
Commanders fans would love to see Garrett donning the burgundy and gold in 2025 and beyond. Let's hope this happens and he ends up helping this team reach a Super Bowl.
