The Washington Commanders needed all hands on deck against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. Unfortunately, the team took a major hit in the first quarter when star wide receiver Terry McLaurin suffered a concerning injury.

McLaurin went down with a non-contact injury and immediately clutched his knee in pain. The concern was immediate, and the medical staff quickly put his knee in a brace while waiting for the cart.

Washington players all took a knee. Some of the Niners' top stars came over to give McLaurin their best. But considering the wideout's influence on the Commanders, seeing him get carted to the locker room was nothing short of disastrous.

This follows a concerning trend for McLaurin. He just hasn't stayed healthy since a long contract standoff last year. The same trend is continuing this time around, and if this knee injury is serious, it plunges the Ohio State product's long-term future into serious doubt.

ESPN update on Terry McLaurin adds to the heartbreak

ESPN sideline reporter Laura Rutledge confirmed McLaurin had also been ruled out. She also said that after speaking to him this week, she noted how happy he was to finally be healthy and wanted to help the team get out of this slump. Just a heartbreaking situation for all involved.

Commanders rule out Terry McLaurin quickly

No sooner had McLaurin been carted off the field at Levi's Stadium than the Commanders immediately ruled him out for the remainder of the contest. Not entirely surprising, but it only worsened the situation.

Terry McLaurin looked visibly frustrated

The look on Terry McLaurin's face told its own story. He cut a visibly frustrated figure as he left the field, probably knowing he'd done something serious. Nothing seems to be going right for the Commanders this season, and this was just another example.
