One could pinpoint the Washington Commanders' problems to when five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil sustained a torn triceps at training camp. This was a long-term problem, and the blindside protection has inevitably crumbled without him.
Reports suggested Tunsil could miss the entire campaign, which is understandable given the circumstances.
However, he dropped a subtle clue that hinted at a return to action sooner than expected.
Laremy Tunsil's cryptic post hints at potential Commanders return
Tunsil posted a picture of himself in a Commanders uniform taking the field. Of course, this could mean anything, but at a time when Washington fans are clinging to any potential glimmer of hope, this post could also be strategic.
Hold up.

If he is preparing to return at the state we're in, that speaks a lot to the character of Tunsil.
It also tells me how much he believes in Jayden. pic.twitter.com/m52q83yW8k
If this means something and Tunsil is nearing a return, calling it a game-changer would be an understatement.
The Ole Miss product is among the league's best and has been since he entered the league. Tunsil's pass protection is flawless, and he's also a dominant run-stopper. And even on the shelf, he's made an effort to help the younger players as a growing leader.
Obviously, nothing is confirmed. Tunsil would need to wear some sort of protective brace on his arm, but it all comes down to his pain threshold.
And if he is pushing to get back with the Commanders in their current state, it speaks to two things.
His high character. And his confidence in quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Laremy Tunsil's return would be huge, but Commanders fans shouldn't count on it
It's hard to fathom just what a monumental lift this would be for everyone associated with the Commanders. From the fans to the players, the front office, and ownership, everyone gets a massive boost.
Whether it comes to fruition or not is another matter.
The Commanders won't throw Tunsil out there before he's ready. They desperately need him, but not at the expense of any long-term damage.
But if he can return, it could be the end of Chris Paul's time as a starter.
If Tunsil resumes his place at left tackle, Brandon Coleman has a good chance of moving inside. The TCU product was reportedly winning the left guard job before plans changed, so this may be the likeliest outcome, especially with Paul failing to meet the required standards.
Tunsil is an elite difference-maker. The Commanders didn't get much right last year, but parting ways with notable draft capital to secure his services was a shrewd move. And if he can somehow return to the fold in the coming weeks, that would also show Washington isn't entirely out of the fight.
But if the Commanders' losing run continues, the decision to sit him out will be easy.
Time will tell on all fronts. And though this social media post might not mean much in the grand scheme of things, it's worth monitoring as we go further.
Watch this space, I guess...
