It's been an eventful offseason for the Washington Commanders. General manager Adam Peters took the drastic action needed after such a disappointing campaign, operating aggressively in free agency before taking a more calculated approach during the 2026 NFL Draft.
And he might not be done just yet.
The Commanders' roster looks better now. There is more balance. They wanted to get younger and more dynamic, and Peters achieved this objective. This doesn't guarantee improvements, but it was the only way to improve their chances.
Kay Adams believes more moves are coming from the Commanders
But Peters never settles. That led Kay Adams of the Up and Adams Show to drop some breadcrumbs about more new additions to the Commanders, with a wide receiver and another defensive veteran potentially being under consideration.
"It's going to be an unrecognizable group in every possible way, and I don't think he [Adam Peters] is done. He's crafty, and he's got $50 million to spend, third most in the league.
"I'd look for another receiver. Maybe another defensive vet as well. Big bounce-back happening in Washington. There are so many veteran wide receivers looking for places to go, to contend, and get a ring. Washington has leverage in that, with Jayden [Daniels] and all the guys wanting to be on the field with him. It's a bit of a waiting game, but I don't think they have all that money to spend."
The much-improved Commanders aren't done adding yet...

Nobody would be complaining if another productive pass-catcher came into the building to help quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Most of the speculation centers on Brandon Aiyuk, but he's still under contract with the San Francisco 49ers. The likes of Jauan Jennings, Stefon Diggs, DeAndre Hopkins, and Deebo Samuel Sr. are ready to go right now. And as Adams said, the Commanders have plenty of salary-cap space to make it happen.
Peters has gutted the defense, and with good reason. If the Commanders were looking for additional assistance, the cornerback room would be a high priority.
Washington didn't find the right value during the draft. It doesn't look like Trey Amos, Mike Sainristil, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Amik Robertson will be enough. Trevon Diggs has a previous connection to head coach Dan Quinn. Kenny Moore II was recently released by the Indianapolis Colts, which is another intriguing possibility.
The Commanders may be content to let things play out over the early offseason program before deciding if more is needed. Peters won't hesitate to strike if the right opportunity comes along, but the competition for places is high enough for now. At the same time, this is a fluid situation that could flip at any moment.
And if Adams is right, fans should expect more activity in the not-too-distant future.
