The Washington Commanders are looking to throw their weight around in free agency. General manager Adam Peters has money to spend and a plethora of holes to fill. Speculation is running wild about which productive veterans will be targeted, but the front-office leader wasn't giving too much away during his media availability at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.
That was not the case with one of his rival general managers in the NFC East. And it's something that shouldn't have gone unnoticed in Washington.
The New York Giants have some difficult choices to make this offseason. They have some talented free agents, but they don't have much available salary-cap space to make moves right now. That will probably change before the legal tampering window. Still, the price will be too high in some instances.
Joe Schoen's comments on Wan'Dale Robinson should not go unnoticed by Commanders
Joe Schoen all but confirmed that when discussing Wan'Dale Robinson's future. He tied it to the importance of right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, whose re-signing is a necessity. And if it is a choice between the two, these comments suggest it will be a pretty easy decision.
"Now right tackle, you need a right tackle regardless. So, Jermaine [Eluemunor] was actually with Baltimore, so he has a relationship with the coach in the past. But yeah, a receiver like Wan’Dale [Robinson], you definitely got to have those conversations to make sure that you’re going to get value from the player if you’re going to pay him probably what he’s going to get."Joe Schoen via G-Men HQ
Schoen would like to keep Robinson. He was highly productive, developing a strong chemistry with quarterback Jaxson Dart, and achieved his first 1,000-yard receiving season in 2025. But when push comes to shove, the market projections about what he could potentially command might be too rich for New York.

The Commanders need more firepower around Jayden Daniels. They have Luke McCaffrey or Jaylin Lane to occupy the slot if Deebo Samuel Sr. doesn't return in free agency. Even so, it's hard to look at Robinson's trajectory and not think he wouldn't be a significant upgrade on anything Washington has right now.
He is a versatile, dependable threat at all three levels of the field. Robinson relies on volume, but he makes things happen. Whether the Commanders are willing to pay what he's looking for remains to be seen, but the upside of this acquisition is undeniable, given the pro-style offense David Blough is implementing.
Robinson will be one of many possibilities on the shortlist. And based on Schoen's comments in Indianapolis, the Commanders might get their shot at luring him from a bitter division adversary.
