Could this be a fit?

The Washington Commanders are 1-4-1 at their bye week. But with the NFC East up for grabs, don't expect them to throw in the towel anytime soon.

And as the trade deadline approaches, general manager Adam Peters will need to be working the phones.

The Commanders just lost top wide receiver Terry McLaurin for the season with a torn patellar tendon. Additionally, Treylon Burks exited Washington's Monday Night Football game late against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jerry Jeudy could be an interesting Commanders trade candidate as his role diminishes

Washington has a winnable division and a much easier schedule coming up in November and early December. Help will need to arrive, and it could come in the form of Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy via trade.

Jeudy was once considered a blue-chip draft prospect, but never quite took off with the Denver Broncos. His best season came in Cleveland in 2024, when he eclipsed 1,200 receiving yards and earned Pro Bowl honors.

However, Jeudy has been buried this season as rookies Denzel Boston and K.C. Concepcion have taken on immediate roles in Todd Monken's Browns offense. The seventh-year pro has only 12 receptions for 150 receiving yards in 2026 so far, and he might be best served a change of scenery.

And the Commanders could use his services.

Jerry Jeudy would be a nice stopgap for Commanders' depleted receiver corps

Jeudy's specialty throughout his career has been contested downfield catches, something the Commanders now sorely lack without McLaurin. Burks is likely their best deep-ball threat now, but the Alabama product is a more proven dynamic weapon.

This could give Washington a solid No. 2 option opposite Stefon Diggs, with third-round rookie Antonio Williams in the slot and Burks as rotational depth. It wouldn't be an elite wideout room by any means, but you can certainly do a lot worse.

In the Commanders' current plight, nothing should be off the table. Though much will depend on the compensation Cleveland wants in any potential trade.

If the Commanders want to make a push for a playoff spot, it's critical they buy at the trade deadline instead of selling. A player like Jeudy, whose stock is down right now, probably won't cost an early-round pick, and the upside is worth the risk.

Washington has been linked to other names as well, most notably quarterback Jayden Daniels' former LSU teammate Brian Thomas Jr. But the Jacksonville Jaguars' third-year pro will be in higher demand if they move him, and the Commanders will need a backup plan.

Hey Jeudy, you'll do.
