This was unusual.

Jayden Daniels gained fans all over the world after taking the NFL by storm during a rookie campaign that will go down in the history books. But even the Washington Commanders quarterback experienced a first during the team's latest training camp practice.

Daniels wasted no time in making himself known. The Commanders thought he could be something special at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, and they weren't wrong. He was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish, displaying the poise, composure, and cold-blooded mentality that Washington had craved for years at football's most important position.

The Commanders and Daniels are expecting to take things up another notch in 2025. He doesn't have the benefit of wide receiver Terry McLaurin right now as his contract standoff with the franchise continues, but an aggressive offseason from general manager Adam Peters has them well primed for another deep playoff push once the second-team All-Pro pass-catcher rejoins his teammates.

Until then, Daniels is developing chemistry with his other weapons in the passing game at training camp. Everything is going according to plan as preparations gather pace, but the best part of Monday's session came after.

Signing autographs and engaging with fans is the fun part. This time, it came with a twist, with Daniels putting his prized signature on a newborn baby of all things.

Adorable. And in Daniels' brief but highly profitable NFL career so far, this was probably another first.

And his most unusual one yet.

It just goes to show how beloved Daniels is within the Commanders' fan base. He's the embodiment of everything good about this new era. He's charismatic but highly focused on the work at hand. He plays with a ruthless conviction that's hard not to love, and he's got no trouble dragging his teammates along for the ride.

What comes next is more important for Daniels. He must prove last season's exploits weren't just a flash in the pan. The Commanders have a tougher schedule, and they won't be a surprise that teams don't see coming anymore. But with the former LSU standout leading the charge, fans believe anything is possible.

And who knows, perhaps this newborn baby will have a Super Bowl or two to celebrate thanks to Daniels when it's all said and done.
