The Commanders got a good one.

The Washington Commanders might have dropped their first game since Week 1 but there's no doubt that rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is a special player. Through six games, Daniels has thrown for 1,404 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing through 322 yards and four scores with his legs.

It's been really cool to see the second overall pick dominating the league through the first six weeks and the hope is that he and the Commanders offense can keep it up throughout the season. Not only is Daniels dominating offensively but he's even doing the small things right.

Jayden Daniels doesn't look like a rookie just six games in

Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel pointed out something the Commanders young quarterback did this past week that really impressed him. Daniel said that he noticed Daniels throwing the ball into the dirt at Austin Ekeler's feet because "he knew it would keep the clock running and it wasn't worth the one yard gain". Daniel said this was important because the Commanders "needed to keep the timeout".

Daniel added, "This is NEXT LEVEL QB play we are seeing....his processing is off the charts." This is high praise considering that Daniel played in the NFL for over a decade and while sure, he was only a backup during that time, he still has tons of NFL experience and knows how to play the position. For him to recognize what a special talent Daniels is should make Commanders feel great moving forward.

The Commanders had the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With Caleb Williams off the board, they selected LSU's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback hoping that he could do what former team signal-callers could not.

We're only six games in. But so far, Daniels looks special and Daniel pointing out small things like dirting the ball to save a timeout shows that the Commanders signal-caller is already ahead in his development.

With the Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants not looking all that lethal through the first month and a half of the season, the NFC East could very well be Washington's division to lose. Who would have thought that'd be the case back in September?
