This is what it's all about.

It's been over three decades since the Washington Commanders competed in the NFC Championship game. The franchise quickly went on a downward spiral after that fateful day. Now, they are on the up at long last.

Dan Quinn's men are one win away from the Super Bowl. The Philadelphia Eagles stand in their way — a perennial juggernaut who will fancy their chances of hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy when it's all said and done.

Not many are expecting the Commanders to win. That was also the case against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions. They came through those tough challenges with flying colors, so writing them off entirely is foolish.

Some think the Commanders are a team of destiny. Quinn focuses on what he can control rather than any underlying premonitions from outside the organization. He knows what a tough test awaits on the road. He also knows how his squad can rise to any occasion with the spotlight glaring.

A fascinating afternoon awaits.

The Commanders are Eagles are incredibly familiar with one another. They've competed in a storied rivalry spanning decades across NFL history. But few games between both clubs have carried more significance than this one.

Washington still holds a slender 90-86-6 advantage in the series. They've won two of their last five meetings against the Eagles. But even in the defeats under Ron Rivera and Dan Quinn, they've pushed Philadelphia to the limit before eventually falling short.

There was nothing to split them during the regular season. Philadelphia came out with the win on Thursday Night Football in Week 11. The Commanders answered back with a stunning fightback to reclaim bragging rights in Week 16.
