The Washington Commanders are sitting at 4-2 right now, giving them one of the top records in the league. It's looking more like this team is genuinely good and could improve further if the defense raises its performance levels as the campaign goes on.

Fans want to keep on riding on the heels of this red-hot season. However, it's also a good time to think about what offseason moves general manager Adam Peters might be making in the 2025 NFL Draft. That might seem like an age away. But make no mistake, plans are already being formed behind the scenes.

According to Tankathon, the Commanders currently hold 10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. There are plenty of needs to be filled on the team with the number of selections at Peters' disposal, even with the team firing on all cylinders.

Commanders select Kelvin Banks Jr. in 2025 NFL mock draft

Draft analysts across the country are already predicting how the first round might go. Rob Rang of FOX Sports has the Commanders sitting at No. 22 overall in his latest mock draft. The selection was stalwart offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. out of Texas.

"Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has breathed life into a once-proud franchise, but if he is to enjoy long-term success, Washington needs to get some more Hogs up front. Banks lacks ideal size, but his quickness and balance have made him a star at left tackle at Texas, and some believe his best fit in the NFL is at left guard. Regardless, the pro-ready Banks could be money in the bank for a franchise needing help up front."

The Commanders' offensive line has looked like an improved unit in 2024. Right guard Sam Cosmi continues to be one of the NFL's best. The free agent adds of center Tyler Biadasz and left guard Nick Allgretti are proving to be elite grabs. And despite his early struggles, rookie left tackle Brandon Coleman looks like he might be the guy to protect Jayden Daniels' blindside for the foreseeable future.

With that being said, veteran right tackle Andrew Wylie should not be the starter for the Commanders in 2025. Right tackle seems to be the missing piece for the trenches on the offense. Banks could be the right guy for the job.

Although he plays left tackle at Texas, a player of Banks' talent could be able to slide over to the right easily. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 320 pounds, the edge force is currently one of the best tackles in college football. He projects to be one of the best offensive linemen in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Banks is an elite pass blocker. According to Pro Football Focus, he has allowed only one pressure on 202 pass-blocking snaps in 2024. He displays the length to be a true tackle in the NFL, giving him the ability to block quick edge rushers. This is done through great technique and power.

If Banks is available when the Commanders are on the clock, it is looking like a no-brainer for him to be the selection. However, considering a cornerback or edge rusher will also be high on Peters' list of priorities depending on what moves arrive in free agency.
