Ensuring quarterback sensation Jayden Daniels has everything needed to thrive next season was high on the Washington Commanders' list of priorities this offseason. Adam Peters was aggressive in achieving his objective, which puts the team in a strong position with the 2025 NFL Draft on the immediate horizon.

But one NFL analyst believes the Commanders still need another prolific weapon to enhance their chances of going one better next time around.

The Commanders traded for Deebo Samuel Sr., which cost them a fifth-round pick. Considering his previous production and the fact he's highly motivated in a contract year, this has the makings of an absolute steal if the wideout reaches expectations.

Terry McLaurin is the alpha after earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2024. Hopes remain high that Luke McCaffrey can increase his influence after being used sparingly as a rookie. Noah Brown and K.J. Osborn both re-signed, but the Commanders shouldn't settle.

Peters has just five draft selections currently. Needs have diminished during the offseason, but it makes finding the right recruits more important with the limited assets available. Trading down for more picks couldn't be dismissed. It's finding the correct time and offer that represents the biggest stumbling block.

Commanders must find another explosive wide receiver during the 2025 NFL Draft

This was a topic discussed by Bradley Locker from Pro Football Focus. The analyst thought the Commanders not acquiring another top-end wide receiver would be a disastrous outcome from their 2025 NFL Draft exploits. He also expected Peters to rectify this issue within the first three rounds.

"Washington has taken its offseason vision to heart, already bettering Jayden Daniels’ Year 2 environment with trade acquisitions Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel. Still, the team should find another trustworthy wideout next to Terry McLaurin through the draft. Late-season standouts Dyami Brown and Olamide Zaccheaus are both on new teams, and Samuel (72.1 PFF receiving grade, 1.60 yards per route run) regressed in 2024. Meanwhile, third-round pick Luke McCaffrey produced only a 54.3 PFF receiving grade in an underwhelming first year. With few avenues left to further upgrade the team’s receiver room through free agency, general manager Adam Peters should target a legitimate stud at the position before the end of Day 2."

The Commanders have two picks in the opening three rounds after trading for elite left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Peters will have to wait until No. 29 overall in the first round and No. 61 in the second. The front-office leader doesn't have the assets to move up, although that couldn't be completely ruled out considering how bold Washington has been throughout another eventful offseason.

Trading back to get another Day 2 pick increases the options available. The Commanders are serious about maximizing Daniels' rookie contract before he could potentially reset the market. If Peters can find another explosive wideout to complement what they already have, he'd be foolish not to consider the possibility.

Washington might not be done there on offense. Keeping faith with the running backs from the 2024 campaign was a contentious issue among the fanbase. However, there is room for one more from what's perceived as an extremely deep class emerging from the college ranks.

It'll be interesting to see how Peters approaches his offensive weapons. It'll be a big surprise if another wideout doesn't get drafted at some stage.
