The Washington Commanders are coming home. Their agreement with the District of Columbia government to build on the old RFK Stadium site exorcises Dan Snyder's final ghost for good measure.

Snyder ran the Commanders into the ground. The toxic environment he created and his petulant negotiating tactics meant a return to D.C. was never going to happen under his ownership. But after one scandal too many, he was forced to sell and got a record-breaking fine on his way out the door.

Josh Harris is on the opposite side of the spectrum. He cares deeply about the Commanders. He knows how to successfully run sports franchises. He hired specialists in almost every area, and examples of his ambition have been evident on countless occasions over the last two years.

Commanders returning to D.C. is a dream come true for fans

This was the biggest remaining obstacle. And it seems Harris's dream of bringing Washington's football franchise back to its rightful place is coming true, pending city council approval.

In recognition of the landmark announcement, legendary quarterback Joe Thiesmann narrated a phenomenal video that tugged on fans' heartstrings. This invoked memories of the past while also placing a firm focus on the future.

It's really happening. And fans feel like they are living in a dream.

Harris, together with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Mayor Muriel Bowser, and other team officials will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday to confirm the agreement and delve deeper into the plans. This will be a must-watch for every fan.

Reports suggest Harris will fund more than $2.5 billion, with the city footing the bill for infrastructure. Considering they would have been doing that regardless of who took on the project, it's the best-case scenario for everybody.

This was the primary objective. Harris spent his childhood cheering on Washington from the RFK Stadium stands. He's spoken fondly of these memories and now owns the team. With some help from Goodell and more cooperation from elected officials than Snyder ever received, we are almost at the finishing line.

Fight for Old D.C. And now, the Commanders have secured their future in a place they once called home, raised Super Bowls, and became an NFL powerhouse.
