Commanders vs. Seahawks - Week 3

The Washington Commanders' home opener is always a hotly anticipated affair. That bears special significance next season when the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks come to town.

Mike Macdonald's squad ran riot over everyone in the postseason to get their hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They lost some influential figures to free agency, but they should still be a tough nut to crack.

  • Prediction: Loss (1-2)

The atmosphere at Northwest Stadium should be electric, but this might be a step too far for this new-look squad.

Commanders vs. Colts - Week 4

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

A trip across the pond awaits the Commanders in Week 4. They are hosting an international game against the Indianapolis Colts, the second time they've participated in a European fixture in as many years.

Washington will be hoping it goes a lot better than last year's debacle against the Miami Dolphins. While the Colts have talent, there is no telling whether quarterback Daniel Jones will be under center by then as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon.

  • Prediction: Win (2-2)

If the Commanders' defensive front seven can restrict running back Jonathan Taylor's influence, they can win this one.

Commanders vs. NY Giants - Week 5

There is no bye for the Commanders after their voyage to London. They are back in action immediately on home soil, and the New York Giants will be awaiting them.

Real buzz is building around the Giants after they hired head coach John Harbaugh to lead them back to prominence. They have some talented young pieces everywhere, so it won't be the sure thing Washington fans have typically expected from this game over the last two years.

  • Prediction: Win (3-2)

Stopping a pass-rush that now includes Arvell Reese will be key. If the Commanders can give Jayden Daniels time in the pocket, they should be able to come away victorious.

Commanders at 49ers - Week 6

Monday Night Football

A grueling run before the bye ends with a cross-country trek to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. And there could be a few interesting storylines to watch.

The Niners are expected to contend if they get a better run of luck on the injury front. But if wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk eventually gets his wish and joins the Commanders, that will no doubt hog all the headlines in this one.

  • Prediction: Loss (3-3)

If Aiyuk lands in Washington, motivation and revenge will be on the minds of almost everyone involved. That will make it even more challenging for the Commanders.

Commanders vs. Eagles - Week 8

Sunday Night Football

Coming off the bye, the Commanders welcome the Philadelphia Eagles in another primetime contest. They will be well rested, and the extended preparation period should help iron out any problems that surfaced during the first few weeks of the campaign.

The Commanders split the season series with the Eagles last season. After losing in Week 1 in this scenario, they will be eager to do the same again. And homefield advantage with a national audience watching tends to have a greater impact.

  • Prediction: Win (4-3)

Washington shouldn't be daunted by this test. And coming off the bye, they should be raring to go.
