Releasing starting center Tyler Biadasz was a contentious issue at the time and remains so now. The Washington Commanders felt their vision for the offense no longer matched his physical strengths, but the productive veteran was not out of work for long.
The Los Angeles Chargers saw something in Biadasz that the Commanders once did. And it didn't take them long to find out for sure.
According to reports, Biadasz has made an imposing start to life in Los Angeles. He's slotted in seamlessly and embraced the culture implemented by head coach Jim Harbaugh. He's set the tone and made the center spot his own as expected. Simply put, things couldn't be going much better.

Want further proof? Just look at how Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel spoke about Biadasz during a conversation with Harbaugh over early offseason workouts.

This shouldn't come as breaking news to Commanders fans.
Biadasz was a consistent on-field performer, a hard worker in practice, and a phenomenal teammate. Was he perfect? Absolutely not, but he's a solid professional who puts in the time to improve and is also an exceptional leader behind the scenes.
It's still early days, of course. Biadasz still has to get it done when it counts, but he looks well-suited to the physical blocking style Harbaugh demands. And if he can build on this positive momentum, there will be a few dubious glances in general manager Adam Peters' direction.
Peters had his reasons, which we will never know. There is confidence in Nick Allegretti to fill the void, but he remains an unknown quantity. Sixth-round rookie Matt Gulbin offers long-term upside, but asking him to log starting reps from Week 1 is foolish. If it doesn't go well, the Commanders have money to bring in another option, but that would only increase the instability.
This is no longer Biadasz's concern.
He's focused on proving the Commanders wrong by excelling with the Chargers, providing a solid foundation for quarterback Justin Herbert to rely on. The revenge factor is always a great source of motivation, and Biadasz could be the biggest winner in this entire situation if Los Angeles meets some lofty expectations in 2026.
As for the Commanders? They are hoping Allegretti can lock down the position and others on the offensive line also meet their end of the bargain. There is no reason to panic right now, but that will change quickly if the Illinois product cannot raise the stakes.
And one could forgive Biadasz for having a wry smile if this scenario becomes a reality.
