Head coach Dan Quinn was not happy with the offensive line and said changes would be considered during the bye week. General manager Adam Peters disagreed, which speaks to a lack of alignment between the Washington Commanders' power couple.

During his weekly appearance with The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan, Peters said the offensive line is doing a pretty good job under the circumstances, though he acknowledged their Monday Night Football showing against the San Francisco 49ers needed to be better.

As for changes? Peters claimed there have been no discussions about shuffling the pack during Washington's extended rest.

Adam Peters is happy with Commanders offensive line, but Dan Quinn is not

That doesn't quite fit with Quinn's thought process during his limited media engagement before the bye week.

“This last game we didn’t protect as well as we needed to. I think, on the average, the guys have done a pretty good job. I think the numbers would show that as well…in terms of moving forward, there hasn’t been any discussion of shuffling anybody or doing anything like that. We have to find ways to get Jayden a little more time when he needs it."

To say quarterback Jayden Daniels needs a "little more time" would be an understatement.

He is getting just 1.5 seconds in the pocket before pressure arrives in his face. For a signal-caller playing through a dislocated elbow, this is completely unacceptable. But Peters is clearly willing to let things ride out while Quinn is eager to shake things up.

Peters' job is seemingly safe. Quinn's is under intense scrutiny.

And this is reflected in their desired approaches.

Adam Peters and Dan Quinn must be aligned for Commanders to improve

The Commanders don't have the best offensive line depth. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil's torn triceps changed everything, and Peters' handling of the center spot was a complete botch.

His lack of urgency, even when Nick Allegretti missed all of training camp with a calf strain, was malpractice. Aside from the right-hand tandem of Sam Cosmi and Josh Conerly Jr., it's been nowhere near the level expected.

Quinn can see it. Peters holds a different opinion.

It'll be interesting to see what comes from this. Quinn is the coach, but Peters reportedly has the final say in personnel, including who is active or not on game days. It's an interesting concept, but it can't interfere with personal decisions.

Peters cannot let pride get in the way, either.

He's been accused of letting his ego restrict his ability to see things clearly. That's debatable, but his statement on the offensive line did not match Quinn's.

This could be problematic. But there aren't any viable solutions on the depth chart or the free-agent market that would move the needle much.

A trade could happen, but the Commanders would have to start winning games before that becomes a reality.

Peters still has faith in his decision-making process. He believes his methods are working, but the results tell a different story.

And until that changes, the urgency will only increase.

Fans will be watching closely. But if the same problems keep happening after the bye week, this comment may come back to haunt Peters.
