The Washington Commanders took drastic action during their first full offseason under new ownership. This was welcome and necessary in equal measure considering how the organization was struggling to tread water, rooted among the bottom feeders. Fans were increasingly disillusioned and disconnected from the team. It was time for that to change.

Many thought the Commanders would improve this season. Not many anticipated them to be sitting at 4-1 through five games with dreams of winning the NFC East and making some serious noise in the postseason.

This is further ahead than those in power probably anticipated. The positivity surrounding the Commanders cannot be ignored. Everything feels different. Everything feels better. It's a stunning turnaround in fortunes that lends hope that Washington can return to its rightful place among the NFL's elite after decades of decay under the previous owner.

With this in mind, here are eight Commanders who are spearheading this remarkable franchise culture shift in 2024.

Commanders coaching staff

We'll get to the top guy a little later in the piece. However, the unified purpose being displayed by the Washington Commanders' coaching staff under new head coach Dan Quinn is a major reason behind this team's turnaround.

The signs were there throughout the summer. Washington's newly formed staff brought energy, desire, and fire to every practice session. This brought an immensely positive response from the players and got everyone singing from the same hymn sheet quickly.

This staff has the right blend of youth and experience. Former head coaches are working under Quinn and some harbor similar ambitions later in their respective careers. But instead of this being a 'too many cooks' scenario, they are all working towards a common purpose.

It's a collective mindset that the Commanders desperately needed after one of the worst prolonged spells in franchise history. This also helped ignite a complete culture restoration across the franchise for good measure.
