Commanders could sign Brady Christensen

The Washington Commanders have a solid offensive line. Chris Paul was re-signed, so four of last year's five starters are back. Andrew Wylie and Trent Scott were brought back for depth purposes. Nick Allegretti may be the No. 1 center. If not, he's a versatile rotational piece.

No team should ever settle along the offensive line. Disaster can strike at any moment, so the more dependable options the Commanders have to come in, the better their chances will be.

Brady Christensen is an intriguing option. He's got starting experience at every position on the offensive line during his five seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, an Achilles tear ended his 2025 campaign early, which is also why he is still sitting on the proverbial scrapheap.

Christensen is reportedly making good progress. And once he gets the all-clear to resume football activities, he won't be out of work for long.

Commanders could sign Stefon Diggs

The Commanders are short of dependable options at the wide receiver position. There is a chance some younger players — Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, and Treylon Burks — can take leaps forward, but finding another option with proven credentials seems feasible before on-field preparations for the 2026 campaign begin.

Washington could wait until after the draft. One option is Stefon Diggs, but the move carries significant risk after he was released by the New England Patriots.

Diggs went over 1,000 receiving yards during his one season in New England. He formed a strong connection with quarterback Drake Maye, helping the AFC East club reach the Super Bowl. But those in power decided that the juice was no longer worth the squeeze.

The former Maryland standout is dealing with some legal issues, which is off-putting. Diggs still has some good football left, but the Commanders might be better off waiting for Brandon Aiyuk or targeting other possibilities.

Commanders could sign Kyle Dugger

Nobody expected the Commanders to stand pat at the safety position, despite defensive coordinator Daronte Jones praising almost every member of the room during his introductory press conference. That proved to be the case over the first wave of veteran acquisitions across the NFL.

Nick Cross was signed to a deal that could turn out to be a bargain if he builds on his encouraging recent momentum. The Commanders could further strengthen the unit via the draft, but there are still several intriguing options on the market who could provide extra competition.

Kyle Dugger has the size, versatility, and explosiveness Jones is looking for in his defensive backs. He's a hard hitter who performed well for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. Whether he's too similar to Cross is debatable, but he'd arguably be an upgrade on anything Washington has aside from their new arrival.
