Drake Jackson - Commanders DE/OLB

Adam Peters had one priority above all else this offseason. The Washington Commanders needed to acquire the edge-rushing upgrades needed to make things easier for the defense. And the general manager achieved this objective with a flurry of new acquisitions.

Odafe Oweh was the big-money arrival in free agency. K'Lavon Chaisson was willing to bet on himself with a one-year deal. Charles Omenihu brings experience and depth, and Day 3 draft pick Joshua Josephs is already being tabbed as a steal.

With Dorance Armstrong Jr. also making good progress from a serious knee injury, the Commanders have an abundance of weapons for Daronte Jones to utilize. Unfortunately for players like Drake Jackson, this decreases their chances of making the team.

Jackson came on board last season after the San Francisco 49ers finally gave up. He's got talent, but cannot seem to stay healthy. The Commanders saw enough to give him another one-year deal, but that comes with no guarantees whatsoever.

Brandon Coleman - Commanders OL

The Commanders had many unknowns heading into the offseason. Fortunately, their offensive line has much-needed stability.

Washington has a bookend tackle tandem in Laremy Tunsil and 2025 first-round pick Josh Conerly Jr. Sam Cosmi is one of the league's most accomplished right guards, and Chris Paul resisted the urge to leave with a new one-year deal in free agency. Releasing starting center Tyler Biadasz was the only confusing move, especially given how quickly he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Even so, the Commanders have four of their starting five linemen returning, which will only help maintain continuity. But for Brandon Coleman, it casts doubt on his aspirations for greater involvement.

Coleman's sophomore NFL season was a disaster. He switched to left guard and was benched after two games. The former TCU standout performed well over the final two contests, but a backup role could be the best he can hope for if he doesn't get a shot at the center spot.

Jeremy McNichols - Commanders RB

Washington's running back dynamic is fascinating. The Commanders are seemingly content to move forward with a committee approach, bringing in three new faces this offseason to provide versatility and depth. Couple this with quarterback Jayden Daniels' outstanding dual-threat ability, and the ground game will be a core component of any success that comes their way.

Rachaad White and Jerome Ford were acquired in free agency. The Commanders also spent a Day 3 selection on Kaytron Allen out of Penn State, who could be the early-down power option Washington lost when Chris Rodriguez Jr. signed for the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency.

The Commanders also gave veteran Jeremy McNichols a new one-year deal this offseason. He's a respected locker room leader who can provide assistance on special teams. But even if he does make the 53-man roster, he'll be firmly behind White, Allen, and Jacory Croskey-Merritt in all likelihood.
