Winner No. 5

K'Lavon Chaisson - Commanders OLB

K'Lavon Chaisson was called for a couple of dubious roughing-the-passer penalties that were best described as questionable. But aside from that, this was the edge rusher's best performance since joining the Washington Commanders during the offseason.

Chaisson was relentless coming off the edge. With Lane Johnson no longer providing security at right tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, the pass rusher got whatever he wanted against Markell Bell, using his impressive blend of speed and explosiveness off the snap to cause untold problems.

Backup quarterback Tanner McKee didn't know where the pressure was coming from. Chaisson was in his face almost constantly, helping himself to a sack and three quarterback hits along the way.

The penalties cannot continue, even if they were soft at best. Overall, Chaisson set the standard for himself, and he must continue this trend if the Commanders want to build on their second win of the campaign.

Loser No. 2

Chris Paul - Commanders OL

The Commanders kept faith with interior offensive lineman Chris Paul after the bye week. But with such threadbare options on the depth chart, they didn't have much choice.

Head coach Dan Quinn hinted that the personnel wouldn't change, but the scheme would adjust. Penalties were an ongoing frustration early in the contest, and Paul's performance again wasn't up to the required standard.

Paul's lateral movement is disappointing. He's regressed in terms of awareness, with stunts and shifts on the defensive front giving him endless problems. There were a couple of nice moments, but confidence in his abilities is lacking right now.

The 2022 seventh-round pick has never been the strongest run blocker, but Paul's pass protection technique is also failing him. Washington will keep things as they are, especially after a win, but he'll need to rectify these problems with Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams coming to town.

Winner No. 6

Trey Amos - Commanders CB

The Commanders now have cornerback Trey Amos in the lineup. He missed almost a year of action with a fractured fibula and a sprained ankle, a bitter disappointment for the potential cornerstone.

Amos got his feet wet against the San Francisco 49ers before the bye week, and he came out of the contest unscathed. With another period of rest, the Ole Miss product got more responsibilities against the Eagles, and he shone.

While the Eagles didn't have wide receiver DeVonta Smith or quarterback Jalen Hurts available, you can't help but be pleased with how Amos went about his business. He looked the part in coverage, displaying sound mirroring technique and ball-tracking skills. And when the Commanders needed a big play, he delivered.

This is a significant boost to the defensive backfield. Amik Robertsonn and Rasul Douglas provide the veteran presence in the room, but Amos is also an integral piece for Daronte Jones to utilize moving forward.
