Odafe Oweh - Commanders OLB
The Washington Commanders have run two practices at training camp so far. This is the second time already that edge rusher Odafe Oweh has made his way onto this list, which is precisely what fans wanted to see from Adam Peters' marquee offseason acquisition.
According to reporters in attendance, Oweh is generating pressure almost at will. He once again created several would-be-sack situations on Day 2, though nobody will be touching Jayden Daniels or any other quarterback. Still, one cannot be anything other than encouraged by the Penn State product's formidable start to life in Washington.
The Commanders identified Oweh as their top priority in free agency. Peters had to provide a four-year, $96 million contract with a $26 million signing bonus and $68 million in guaranteed money to seal the deal, but it'll all be worth it if he can make the desired impact. That would be priceless for a team that failed to generate pressure consistently last season.
Oweh has to evolve his game to become a three-down force. He's got the athletic measurables and athleticism to achieve this objective with minimal fuss, and the early signs are immensely promising. The best part? Fans won't even see the best of the 2021 first-round pick until the pads come on.
That's a scary thought.
Ben Sinnott - Commanders TE
This is a massive summer for Ben Sinnott. The 2024 second-round pick was a relative afterthought when Kliff Kingsbury ran the offense, and that has to change. It's a high-stakes situation with no real margin for error, but there are growing signs that more could be on the way.
Sinnott is being utilized more prominently by David Blough, and it's bringing some positive results so far. Day 2 of training camp was another positive display from the Kansas State product, who came up with a few impressive catches that will no doubt build some much-needed confidence.
It's a step in the right direction. There is a long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead for Sinnott, but he now has hope. Kingsbury didn't think much of him; that much is painfully obvious. He's now gone, and Blough believes in his capabilities.
Chig Okonkwo will lead the charge as Washington's primary pass-catching threat at tight end. John Bates is among the league's best in-line blockers, but Sinnott also looks more than capable of making a bigger impact in Blough's scheme.
Getting some touches into Sinnott during the preseason would be beneficial. If he passes those tests with flying colors, he could be a surprise that most don't see coming during the 2026 campaign.
