5 winners (and 2 losers) from Commanders' success vs. Titans in Week 13
By Dean Jones
Winner No. 3
Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB
Jayden Daniels has the potential to be a franchise quarterback. That hasn't changed just because the rookie signal-caller's gone through a dip in recent weeks. The Washington Commanders fully believe in the player. He reminded everyone why with a polished performance versus the Tennessee Titans.
This was more like the Daniels fans saw take the league by storm earlier in the season. He benefitted greatly from a balanced offensive attack. The former LSU standout also looked more poised in the pocket and made the right decisions for the most part.
There was one interception, but that was the only blip on Daniels' résumé. He more than made up for it by playing a role in four touchdowns - three through the air and one on the ground - to spearhead the Commanders to a priceless victory before their bye week.
Daniels was having fun again. There was a freedom to flourish, which provided an extra level of comfort. The timing was on point and the Heisman Trophy winner looked relaxed for the first time in weeks.
Hopefully, the same trend can continue once the dual-threat weapon and his teammates return from their extended rest period.
Winner No. 4
Bobby Wagner - Commanders LB
Dan Quinn couldn't have been more complimentary about Bobby Wagner following the contest. With the Commanders on a three-game losing skid, the veteran linebacker took it upon himself to rouse the locker room with an inspirational speech before preparations began for their clash with the Titans. It had the desired effect.
There isn't much that Wagner hasn't seen or done in the game. He's a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer and one of the greatest linebackers of the modern era. The Commanders made a lot of great signings throughout the spring, but his influence is right up there with the very best.
It was another superb outing from Wagner. He notched just five tackles - taking him to over 100 for the season once again. However, his communication pre-snap had every Washington defender in the correct positions more often than not.
This doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but it was an integral part of the team's success. Wagner is revered by teammates and coaches alike. If the second-level enforcer wants to continue his playing journey following the campaign, the Commanders should be more than willing to provide an extension.
