This is all part of the Washington Commanders' intent to strengthen competition for roster spots before training camp. General manager Adam Peters won't hesitate to shake things up even more if he sees fit, so the margin for error couldn't be finer. Couple this with the added urgency to bounce back from a disappointing campaign, and it's not hard to see why there has been such a positive response.
This part of the preparation period is all about catching the eye. A big play here or there, and the conversation instantly changes. Anyone not pulling their weight will be found out quickly. But for now, everyone seems to be responding well to the increased tempo.

Van Jefferson Jr. - Commanders WR
This is the second time in as many days that Van Jefferson Jr. has landed on this list. While the wide receiver remains on the roster bubble, he is doing his chances a tremendous amount of good so far during mandatory minicamp.
Jefferson was brought in on a one-year deal in free agency to bolster competition for places. He's got the experience to make a difference, though his production has dipped drastically in recent seasons.
The Washington Commanders thought his route-running and contested-catch prowess could be an asset within David Blough's scheme. It's an opportunity the veteran is not planning to waste.
Working with others fighting for roster spots, Jefferson is making his prior league experience count. He's brimming with confidence right now, and his exceptional touchdown catch was a nice way for the Commanders to conclude practice on Day 2.
There is no telling what the future holds for Jefferson right now. He's giving himself a fighting chance, but he must maintain these encouraging performances when the pressure rises further at training camp.
Jefferson has been around long enough to know his minicamp efforts will count for nothing if they cannot be built upon before Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles arrives. That's only going to serve him well.
