Rasul Douglas - Commanders CB
It looks like the Washington Commanders might be onto something here.
Adam Peters recognized that more was required in the cornerback room. The general manager kept tabs on veteran free agent Rasul Douglas throughout the offseason, and a one-year deal worth up to $3.8 million with incentives was enough to bring him on board.
The early signs are immensely positive. Douglas has been among the standouts at training camp so far, and this continued during the first practice with fans in attendance.
He was accomplished in coverage, not letting receivers get any joy in his direction. There were some turnover opportunities, but Douglas couldn't close quickly enough. Even so, it was another encouraging day overall.

The Commanders are still without second-year corner Trey Amos, so Douglas is in a prominent role until further notice. He's doing enough to keep it that way even when the Ole Miss product gets back, which is precisely what this defense needs during an important transition under new coordinator Daronte Jones.
Douglas has talked the talk and walked the walk in recent years, performing consistently and emerging as a dependable presence on the outside or in the slot. If the same trend continues, he'll have an important role to play for the Commanders in 2026.
Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB
It's taken quarterback Jayden Daniels a little time to find his groove at training camp so far. Not exactly surprising, considering the lack of depth at receiver and working within a new offense under coordinator David Blough, but having fans in attendance seemed to spur the signal-caller on.
According to reports, this was Daniels' best day of training camp by a considerable margin. The former LSU phenom looked at his clinical best. There were times when pressure arrived too quickly to make plays, but he made around four exceptional throws that drew widespread praise from the fans in attendance.

One of those was dropped by tight end Ben Sinnott, but it didn't detract from the accomplished control Daniels displayed under center. The Commanders ran more third-down and situational work throughout practice, and the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft managed to showcase that he is ready to go for the new campaign.
Despite the vast changes made by the Commanders this offseason, they will only go as far as Daniels takes them.
He's the franchise player, the great hope at football's most important position. Staying healthy is crucial, but this was the clearest sign yet that Daniels is becoming more comfortable in Blough's system.
