For the first time at training camp, Washington Commanders fans were in attendance on Saturday, which is always a wholesome occasion. The third session was closed off to everyone, including the media. But there was a sense of togetherness on Day 4 that felt heartwarming.
Head coach Dan Quinn also revealed that this was the last practice before pads on Monday. That will raise the tempo even further, but it's already high as the Commanders look to wipe the bitter taste of last season out of their mouths.
This came across in abundance throughout a vibrant event in Ashburn.
After the defense got the upper hand over the opening two practices, it was much more even as Washington moved out of the red-zone portion of camp. The offense seemed to be clocking a little better, and the wide receivers were generating more separation. That was a positive sign, but the hard work is just getting started.
Even so, there were still a few notable players who managed to shine above the rest during another valuable practice. With this in mind, here are five standouts from the fourth day of Commanders training camp.

Nick Cross - Commanders S
The Washington Commanders didn't make many changes to their safety room this offseason. However, their decision to acquire Nick Cross in free agency is already looking like a shrewd move by Adam Peters.
Cross is expected to be a key piece for Daronte Jones' defense. He is a tone-setting force on the backend who can impact proceedings at all three levels of the field. On Day 4 of training camp, the defensive back put those credentials on full display.
According to reports from those watching, Cross was flaying all over the field. He was always around the action, and he made his presence felt in no uncertain terms, emerging as one of the top performers from the session.
Fans have heard good things about Cross almost from the moment he got into the building. Now, they have fully seen for themselves what he can bring to the table, and his influence will only increase when the pads come on.
While Cross needs to improve in coverage, he is one of the league's best safeties against the run. Working with Jones should help him become a more well-rounded player. And if he keeps this sort of effort up, optimism is only going to increase before the 2026 campaign.
