Commanders could trade for Jaire Alexander
- Cornerback | Green Bay Packers
Trading for Marshon Lattimore was the first major statement of intent from the Washington Commanders. It proved they meant business, and Adam Peters would stop at nothing to make this sleeping giant a perennial powerhouse once again.
There are a couple of proven veterans who could be on the move at some stage before the 2025 campaign. The Miami Dolphins are looking to remove Jalen Ramsey from the equation, which might prove difficult considering the money remaining on his contract. Jaire Alexander's ongoing situation with the Green Bay Packers hasn't concluded yet, but that won't take too much longer to arrive.
Alexander's dealt with some injury issues in recent years, but his production remains encouraging. He's a Pro Bowler and an exceptional perimeter coverage presence at the peak of his powers. However, it seems like his time with the Packers has run its course.
The Packers have concealed their hand regarding Alexander's future. Some respected insiders still believe he'll be moved. If no willing trade suitor comes forward, outright releasing the former first-round pick out of Louisville has been touted.
That would make Alexander more enticing from the Commanders' standpoint. But sacrificing a late-round pick to jump ahead of the queue is a daring ploy to round off the cornerback room nicely.
Commanders could trade for Jalin Hyatt
- Wide Receiver | New York Giants
Adam Peters isn't afraid to do business with division rivals. The general manager doubled down on this approach during his pre-draft media availability, stating he won't be scared to adopt similar methods if he feels like it can benefit the Commanders.
It's a dubious strategy for some fans. However, it's the sort of fearless approach that's become synonymous with Peters' time at the helm so far.
Whether another in-division transaction occurs this time around is anyone's guess. Peters will examine all options and explore all possibilities. He's also made a concerted effort to surround quarterback Jayden Daniels with an enhanced supporting cast this offseason in pursuit of ensuring his phenomenal rookie campaign can be sustained.
Adding to the wide receiver room is a possibility during the draft. Other needs could take priority earlier in the process, so examining a possible trade for someone a little down on their luck elsewhere wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.
Jalin Hyatt came into the NFL with blossoming credentials and a high upside. These expectations haven't come close to being met with the New York Giants over his first two seasons, and the former Tennessee standout became a relative afterthought in 2024.
What Peters must figure out is whether Hyatt's disappointing start is down to the Giants' quarterback struggles or something within the player that cannot be salvaged.
