Adam Peters hasn't been shy in making trades this offseason. Although his expendable resources have depleted, the general manager won't hesitate to make another bold move if he believes it can help the Washington Commanders.
It all started when the Commanders were ahead of schedule before the 2024 trade deadline. Peters felt the need to exploit this newfound optimism, securing the services of Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the New Orleans Saints. This didn't go according to plan, but it's also worth remembering that he was dealing with a hamstring injury that never got shaken off effectively.
Peters continued this trend throughout the offseason. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. could be a potential steal for a fifth-round pick. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil cost more, but he's among the premier edge protectors anywhere in the league.
This leaves the Commanders with just five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. It would be surprising if Peters made another veteran incoming in the trade market. However, the front-office leader didn't rule anything out before embarking on yet another pivotal recruitment process with the organization.
Although unlikely, here are five players the Commanders could trade for during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Commanders could trade for Tyree Wilson
- Edge Rusher | Las Vegas Raiders
The Washington Commanders could have their sights set on a talented edge rusher early in the 2025 NFL Draft. It's a deep group for Adam Peters to take advantage of. Something he acknowledged was a strong option during his pre-draft media availability.
If the Commanders miss out on their desired targets, perhaps another trade to fill this need comes into the equation. Much will depend on who becomes receptive to offers and how much Washington is willing to give up, but Adam Schefter from ESPN recently revealed that Tyree Wilson is among those on a rookie deal who could be made expendable.
Wilson was a highly touted college prospect coming out of Texas Tech, en route to the Las Vegas Raiders taking him at No. 7 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He's flashed as a pass-rusher but nothing more, gaining eight sacks in two seasons and starting just four games during that span.
The player is much more accomplished against the run, which is something the Commanders lacked last season. If the Raiders acquire someone like Jalon Walker with their first-round pick, a situation could emerge where they become receptive to offers for Wilson.
Things haven't gone quite according to plan for Wilson so far. However, there remains some untapped potential attached.
